Saturday Field Trip: Columbia River Gorge

Saturday, June 22, 8 am: Guests on Sustainable Seafood PDX’s special field trip will venture to Two Rivers Fishery in the Columbia River Gorge to witness two rare and traditional Native American fishing methods: platform hoop nets and gill nets. The husband and wife team behind this salmon fishery are some of the last in the state employing these sustainable fishing methods.

This exciting field trip, led by Garry Morlock, Wild Salmon Manager at Pacific Seafood, will take a closer look at the history of salmon in the Columbia River and provide a hopeful glimpse at habitat restoration for King, Coho, Steelhead and Sockeye salmon.

The field trip includes a bountiful breakfast at Headwaters on Saturday morning, transportation to and from the Columbia River Gorge fishing site, a delicious picnic lunch, and beverages throughout the day.

Thank you to our partners Pacific Seafood, San Pellegrino, and Free Public Wines for their generous support of this event.
